We offer children in every year group the opportunity to go on a residential visit. The trips have been carefully chosen to offer a wide range of different experiences and the length of visit and distance away from home increases as the children get older. The year 3 children go to The Bushcraft Company at Castle Howard for one night and take part in a range of bushcraft activities. The year 4 children go to Malham youth Hostel for one night for a geography field trip. Year 5 get the chance to try different outdoor and adventurous activities during a two night stay at Carlton Lodge near Thirsk. Year 6 children go all the way to London for a two-night stay, taking part in different cultural visits and seeing the sights of our capital city.
Attending a residential trip at primary school gives children a valuable opportunity to grow both personally and socially. Staying away from home helps pupils build independence, confidence and resilience as they learn to manage new situations and take responsibility for themselves. Residential trips also encourage teamwork and communication through shared activities and challenges, helping children to form stronger friendships and develop trust in others. These experiences create lasting memories, spark curiosity and support learning in a practical, hands-on way that children often carry with them long after they return to school.
